THE GEOLOGY OF INDONESIA - R.W. VAN BEMMELEN

Van Bemmelen was a prominent Dutch geologist who put the fundamental knowledge of the geology of Indonesia. His magnum opus "The Geology of Indonesia" had firstly been published on 1949. But until today, one can say there were no books as comprehensive as this one.

Eventhough influenced by the mainstream of pre- plate tectonics (even van Bemmelen himself had developed his own theory on the geodynamics of the crust and upper mantle, named "undation theory"), there were so much beautiful interpretation and strong geological deduction scattered in the book. Those ideas, I think, are still highly valuable for the geologist.

In this site you will find some transcriptions of the selected parts of the book, which are formatted as high quality pdf. Most of them are related to the geology of Java, the island where I live and put lots of interest on. You may download them.
